dc.description.abstract The aim of the paper is to reveal lingual and cinematic formats of the unconventional narrative creation in Y. Martel`s “Life of Pi” and its screen version. The tasks of the paper are: ⎯ to lay a theoretical groundwork for the unconventional phenomenon study in contemporary linguistic poetics; ⎯ to outline the basic components of the conventional fictional narrative; ⎯ to elicit major ways of fictional narrative deconventionalization; ⎯ to clarify features pertinent to cinematic text; ⎯ to elucidate cinematic techniques of creating the unconventional narrative in film; ⎯ to determine lingual and cinematic techniques of creating unconventional spaciotemporal structure in Y. Martel`s “Life of Pi” and its screen adaptation; ⎯ to reveal lingual and cinematic techniques in representing the unconventional narrator in Y. Martel`s “Life of Pi” and its screen adaptation; ⎯ to trace lingual and cinematic techniques employed in unnatural acts of narration manifestation. en_US
