Abstract:
The aim of the master’s qualificationpaper is to represent metaphorical models of the concept «WAY»in the English languagewhich acquire biblical axiological senses. It presupposes the followingobjectives:−to clarify the notion “metaphorical concept” in the scope of terminological controversy;−to identify the metaphoric concept “WAY” in the English language as the “layered structuring scheme” of axio-religious knowledge in which the interrelations between its kernel (notional etymological criterion) and periphery (valuative figurative criterion) are represented;−to classify the basic models/components of the metaphoric concept “WAY” in which prime pre-Christian senses of human being (axio-religious views) are formed;−to reflect the schemes of religious biblical semantic development in the following models and to denote the ways of acquiring metaphorical/figurative meaning.−totrace the availability of these meanings in the modern English collocations and word combinations
