dc.description.abstract	The aim of this work is to outline the notion of manipulation, determine main strategies of manipulation and discover how these strategies are exploited in English political speeches to achieve the desired effect. To be aware of those strategies means to be forewarned and be able to withstand their effects. The object of the work is manipulation as a linguistic, social and psychological phenomenon. It is difficult to define the exact nature of manipulation; therefore, it is often treated as a multimodal phenomenon. However, it is undeniable that manipulation is based on lingual structures and is implemented in speech activity.	en_US
