Abstract

The purpose of this Paper is to analyse essential features of public speaking and identify and describe linguistic and pragmatic features which will make speech effective and persuasive. According to the purpose of this Course Paper the following tasks were set: • to identify the concept of public speech and its characteristic features; • to examine types and genres of public speaking; • to explore the structure of a public speech; • to define lexical, grammatical, syntactic, and stylistic features of public speech; • to investigate the means of nonverbal communication in public speeches; • to analyze and describe harmonious combination of verbal and nonverbal behavior in effective public speech.
