Abstract:
The course work on the topic "Contrastive Typology of Vowel and Consonant Systems in the English and Ukrainian Languages" is devoted to the analysis of vocalism and consonantism systems of the compared languages, as well as the phenomenon of language interference, which is widely distributed among Ukrainian students, who learn English. The term paper consists of an introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, a résumé, a list of references and a list of illustration materials. The first chapter "Typology as a Field of Linguistics" is theoretical. It examines the phenomenon of contrastive typology, its types, methods and aims, as well as the typology of phonetic and phonological systems.The second chapter "Contrastive Typology of Ukrainian and English
Consonantism and Vocalism" is devoted to the analysis and description of the systems of vowel and consonant phonemes in the English and Ukrainian languages, in particular their allomorphic and isomorphic features.
