This term paper is devoted to the study of speech etiquette in English-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking cultures. The concept, functions and types of intercultural communication are considered in the work. Requests and compliments are demonstrated in both cultures. Examples of verbal and non-verbal means of expressing compliments and requests are given. In addition, a comparative analysis of the above-mentioned elements of speech etiquette in English-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking cultures was made. Conclusions are made about the importance of speech etiquette in various types of discourse.
