Abstract:
The study on the topic "Modal verbs and expressions: their semantic and pragmatic features in modern English and Ukrainian languages" is devoted to the analysis of ways of expressing modality in English and Ukrainian language cultures and verbs as their main means. The coursework consists of an introduction, three sections, general conclusions and a list. The first chapter "Fundamental principles of the study of modality and
linguistic means of its expression" ("Фундаментальні засади вивчення модальності та мовних засобів її вираження ") is theoretical. It examines the main provisions of pragmatics and the theory of speech acts, reveals the concept of modality as a speech act and its main features. The second chapter "Modal verbs and expressions in the English language, their characteristics" ("Модальні дієслова та вирази в англійській мові, їх
ознаки") is a practical study. It presents an analysis of modal verbs and expressions in the English language.
