Abstract:
The research on the topic “Communicative types of sentences in modern English” is devoted to the investigation and identification of the main communicative types of sentences and their analysis in modern English. The course work comprises an Introduction, two chapters, Conclusions to each chapter, General Conclusions, a Résumé, a List of literature cited and a List of illustration materials. The first chapter “Фундаментальні засади вивчення речення в
комунікативному синтаксисі” (“Fundamental principles of studying sentences
in communicative syntax”) supplies the theoretical basis of the research. It presents
the primary definition of the concept of a sentence, its meaning in syntax, namely
communicative syntax, and its functioning in the main aspects – structural and
communicative. In the second chapter “Комунікативні типи речень та їх характерні
ознаки в сучасній англійській мові” (“Communicative types of sentences and
their characteristic features in Modern English”) discloses the practical part of the
research. It is aimed at analyzing the principal types of sentences according to the
purpose of communication, identifying their lexical and grammatical features and
establishing their discourse qualities. This chapter substantiates the role of each type of sentence and provides some examples of illustrative material from English language fiction.
