Abstract:
The research in «Semantic and pragmatic properties of adjectives in Modern English and Ukrainian» is devoted to analysis of semantic and pragmatic aspects of adjectives in English and Ukrainian. The course paper consists of introduction, two chapters, conclusions to each of the chapters, general conclusions and list of cited literature. The first chapter «Теоретичні засади вивчення прикметника в сучасній англійській та українській мові» («The theoretical footing of the study of the adjective in modern English and Ukrainian»). It deals with tasks and objectives of pragmatic grammar, tуpes of languages as to their different approaches are analyzed, the general characteristic of the structure of English and Ukrainian is shown, parts of speech and adjective in particular are highlighted. The second chapter «Семантичні й прагматичні властивості прикметників в сучасних англійській та українській мовах» («Semantic and pragmatic properties of adjectives in Modern English and Ukrainian») is about practical part of the research. The semantic and pragmatic properties of adjectives in both languages are given there. The structure, semantic pragmatic and functions of the adjectives in both languages are analyzed.
