Abstract:
English and Ukrainian» explores the main aspects of the case system in two languages
– English and Ukrainian. The course paper consists of introduction, two chapters,
conclusions to each of the chapters, general conclusions and list of cited literature.
The first chapter «Теоретичні засади вивчення категорії відмінка іменника в сучасній англійській та українській мовах» (Theoretical footing of the study of the category of case in modern English and Ukrainian) deals with the aims of contrastive grammar, the general characteristics of the structure of English and Ukrainian, and the classification of the parts of speech. The second chapter «Порівняльна характеристика категорії відмінка в англійській і українській мовах» (Comparative characteristics of the category of case in English and Ukrainian) is about practical comparison of peculiarities of the
category of case in both languages. The examples of case usage in English and
Ukrainian are analyzed. The findings from this research provide evidence that Modern
English and Ukrainian have different approaches to expressing relations between objects and phenomena with the help of category of case.
