Abstract:
Master diploma paper is dedicated to research of the occasional words in Ukrainian poetry discourse in modern Ukrainian language.
The lexical level of the Ukrainian language is unstable, as new words emerge because of socio-political and cultural-historical events. The vocabulary contains a great number of historicisms, jargonisms, archaisms and international words. Among words that are not generally accepted we distinguish occasional words. These lexical units are not defined by dictionaries and exist solely as words coined by authors.
The relevance of the research topic is determined by the role of occasion words in poetry, since their qualities such as expressiveness and irreproducibility make poetry more vivid; express the author’s attitude to the notion.
The aim of the work is to analyze the structure, semantics, functions and stylistic role of the occasional words in Ukrainian poetry discourse.
The object of the research is the occasional words in modern Ukrainian language whereas the subject is structural and semantic specifity of occasional words and functions of these units in contemporary Ukrainian language.
The paper consists of theoretical and practical parts and conclusions.
The research has shown that usage and structure of the occasional words in modern Ukrainian language allows authors add expressiveness to their poetic texts and express author’s ideas in an extraordinary way. Semantic classification was made up regarding the peculiarities of the components of the occasional words. Structural classification was made up according to the usage of morphological way of word formation.
The results of the research allow to continue and to extend study of the occasional words in lexicology, to analyze usage of different occasional units and to classify them according to certain characteristics.
