Abstract:
The term paper deals with metaphor as an important means of business communication that affects the perception and interpretation of the message. The relevance of the study is due to the need for scientific research to identify common and distinctive features of the use of metaphors in English and Ukrainian business discourse. The purpose of the course work is to conduct a systematic comparison of the use of metaphor in modern English and Ukrainian business communication in order to identify its specificity. In the course of the work, the author used the method of critical analysis of Ukrainian and foreign linguistic and
economic literature, the method of linguistic observation in analyzing the contexts of word use and its compatibility, the descriptive method in observing, generalizing, interpreting and classifying metaphors, the comparative method in the process of researching and describing English-language metaphors by comparing them with Ukrainian-language ones, the method of conceptual analysis to identify the mechanisms of concept rethinking, the method of systematization and generalization of data.
