dc.description.abstract	The purpose of the project is to study the features of the modern detective novel in the prose of the American writer Tess Gerritsen. Realization of the set goal involves solving the following tasks: - systematizing theoretical and literary studies in the field of the detective genre; - determining the peculiarities of the English-language detective genre; - exploring the features of a medical thriller; - revealling the features of the modern thriller and its significance for the further - development of the detective story as a genre; - analyzing the influence of the detective genre on the consciousness of a modern person, in particular the novel “The Surgeon”.	en_US
