Consumer culture and materialism in the American family novel

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the relationship between materialism and consumer culture in the American family novel and highlight the impact of materialism on family values and ideals in the context of American social reality. To achieve the set goal, the following scientific and practical tasks must be solved: 1. To analyze the concepts of materialism and materialistic culture of consumption. 2. To study the role of materialism in the development of American family dynamics. 3. To analyze the impact of materialism on the perception of the "American Dream" in Edward Albee's novel. 4. Identify possible ways to overcome the negative consequences of materialism in family life.
