Abstract

This Paper is an attempt to investigate the concept of functional peculiarities of articles in Modern English. The problem of the article in English is one of the most confusing. The articles perform a discourse function, by demonstrating old and new information. The next function of the article is to determine definiteness/indefiniteness. The aim of the research is to determine the types and the functions of the article in Modern English.
