Stylistic and pragmatic features of political discourse: a comparative aspect (on the material of English and Ukrainian political speeches)

Abstract

The aim of the paper. In order to obtain a clearer grasp of the political instruments of influence and the linguistic means to achieve it, it is important to study public speeches to identify the most frequent patterns of stylistic and pragmatic means. Tracking the trends in political speechwriting is necessary for the improvement of this domain and better communication between linguists and writers who prepare statements for world politicians. Also, such works supplement linguistic databases and accumulate specific expertise.
