Abstract:
The course paper is dedicated to considering and analysing means of expressing
futurity in the Modern English Language. For the purpose of understanding the current
nature of the language aspect, we will elaborate on the theoretical foundations of
expressing the future and the linguistic means used to convey this tense. The
exploration of this issue is carried out within the framework of linguistics and linguistic
dynamics studies, where new approaches to the analysis of the ways of presenting
futurity in language are noted. The primary goal of this paper is to explore and analyse how the notion of
futurity is implemented in Modern English through particular means, and their
functions in use.
The stated above goal implies the accomplishment of the following research
tasks: - to study the works of various scholars on the selected topic;
- to provide a theoretical foundation for the study of the futurity;
- to clarify the phenomenon of time as an objective category and tense as a
lingual category, a deictic marker and a sentence constituent;
- to delve into a detailed investigation of linguistic elements and their
functions related to futurity;
- to explore different linguistic components that play a role in expressing
futurity;
- to show the differences and similarities between certain means of
presenting futurity in modern English;
- to describe the ways of expressing the future in modern English;
- to give examples from the contemporary fiction where the ways of
indicating the future tense are used.
