Abstract:
The present paper is a study of the communicative and pragmatic potential of allusion in the English media discourse. The thesis deals with the analysis of the ways of translation of allusion in the English media discourse. The research of the semantic and functional features of allusions of the English media discourse is presented at the research. The analysis of the lexical and semantic transformations of allusions and their functional classification are represented at this paper.
The relevance of research lies in the fact that the theory of intertextuality is the focus of attention of many domestic and foreign scientists. The phenomenon of intertextuality has been of undying interest among philosophers, literary critics, linguists and culturologists for several decades.
The object of the research is allusions in English media discourse.
The subject of the study is the methods of translation of allusions in the English media discourse.
The aim of the study is the theoretical and practical analysis of communicative and pragmatic potential of allusion in English media discourse and the translation of allusions into Ukrainian.
